It;s Your Choice pt7 “The Name of Jesus”

. Welcome and thank you for joining with us again! (any notices?)

. So what i would like to share with you all tonight is a culmination of everything we have been talking about over the last few weeks.

. We have been talking about the power of Words, that what we speak and what we declare over our lives matters more than we might think.

. What we say will determine the course of our lives, and what we say will determine the effectiveness of our faith, and in turn our ability to honor God.

. We have spoken about declare scriptures over ourselves and over our families, we have looked at how Jesus responded to every confrontation with the enemy (Matthew 4) with the written word of God.

.We spoke about How God is calling us to speak out his Word and by his Word people will be encounter the power of the Holy Spirit (Peter in Acts 10 & 11 )

. And last week we looked at what our words do to the people who hear them according to scriptures in Acts 15, how our words as the words of the false teaches in this chapter can “unsettle the souls” of those who hear them.

. Or as the disciples words in the same chapter bring Strength and encouragement to those who hear them!

. we have been looking at all of this through the lens of

Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

. All about choosing Life, that we have this choice that God tells us in this passage we have to choose, there are really only two choices we might like to think sometimes that there are more than two.

. But ultimately if we are not choosing Life then anything else we chose is death.

.So today i want to focus on the most importation aspect of that choice of life, there is so much power in our words as we have been learning over the past few weeks.

. But there is one thing one Word one choice that is above all of that. There is the one who in fact is Life! who we need to choose! We spoke in weeks past also about knowing the Word that we are to declare, knowing what the scriptures say.

John 1:1–4 NKJV

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

. These verses in John are referring to Jesus, Jesus is the Word of God he has existed since the very beginning, he is the living breathing Word of God! Every time we declare the Word of God over ourselves and over our lives we are declaring Jesus!

. The name of Jesus, the power of Jesus, the authority of Jesus, his name is the Word that we need to know.

. The name of Jesus is there to declare when there is nothing left to say, when we don't know what to say and don't know what to do, its the name of Jesus that is the answer.

. Its the name and the declaration of that name of Jesus that is the choice of Life that we need to make!

. look at verse 4 with me again

John 1:4 NKJV

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

. Look at this! this is the Life that we have been talking about this whole series! The choice of Life is the choice to choose Jesus, he is the one who gives us life, he is the one who gives us victory, he is the one who causes us to overcome.

. Jesus even tells us this himself in....

John 14:6 NKJV

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

. This is what we need to understand, all scripture points to Jesus, every scripture and verse that we have been looking at over the last few weeks about choosing life and about the power of our words was pointing us to this simple yet profound revelation....

. Jesus is Life!

. the ultimate decision of choosing life over death, is choosing Jesus, choosing to accept him choosing to believe in him and in his name

John 20:30–31 NKJV

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

. Once we choose Life by choosing Jesus, there is such great power in declaring his name, and in declaring the scriptures, Jesus gives us the authority to use his name and to call upon his name

Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Jesus make sit clear that he has been given authority over everything, then he sends his disciple out in that same authority to continue the work that he began.

. If you believe in Jesus, and have made that choice of Life over death. you have the authority to use the name of Jesus.

. and i want to encourage you to use it declare it understand the power and the authority that is on your tongue because of the name of Jesus.

. Its one thing to know what the scriptures say and declare them and that is powerful, its a whole new level to know the one who is the Word of God and have the authority of his name.

. When you have nothing left to say, call on his name, when you have tried to recall the scriptures but cant get that breakthrough call on his name. There is power and life in the name of Jesus!

. in your moments of hopelessness, call on his name.
